8D7N Tokyo Trip (11-18 Oct 2017): Day 6 to 8

Day 6: Harajuku (Meijijingu shrine, Yoyogi Park and Takeshita Street) & Shibuya

We stopped by the coffee joint outlet for a simple breakfast. Ate pretty quickly as we realised that there are both smoking and non-smoking seats within the cafe itself. Despite sitting at the non-smoking area we still could smell the smoke!

Our first stop is at Meiji Jingu (it is a shrine for the spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife) and Yoyogi Park, which is just beside the shrine. Saw on numerous blogposts that there will be plenty of people in Yoyogi Park, accompanied with pretty flowers. But when we reached there.. it was raining again and we had only seen probably less than 5 other people in the park.

Next stop - Takeshita Street! We were getting a bit tired from the long walk and it was time to finally do a bit of shopping and eating! As we went during the autumn period, the clothes they were selling are all winter wear. So we didn't buy anything and had the giant and colorful cotton candy and custard cream puff and also visited the Calbee store!

We were getting a bit full so we didn't have the stomach for the famous crepes here. Went to the LINE friends store. They dedicate an entire level just for phototaking.

Stopped by Pablo for their cheese tarts and icecream!

By then, it was already evening time and we headed over to Starbucks at Shibuya to witness the Shibuya crossing and also Hachiko statue.

We finally tried Ichiran Ramen! Ended the day shopping around the malls and doing some errands before heading back to our apartment.

Day 7: Mt. Fuji and Hakone (Lake Ashi/ Mt. Komagatake) tour

We woke up early to head to the hotel, which is the gathering point for pick up to Mt Fuji for our 1 day tour. Weather is bad with so much fog and we couldn't even see Mt. Fuji from the fifth station. Despite the rain, it didn't stop us from taking the selfies! Hahaha. Anyway it was really cold up the mountain - anyone who is coming here should bring thicker jackets like winter as it could go up to negative degrees in temperature.

We had a traditional Japanese lunch at the hotel. It consists of a variety of different Japanese food in bits and portions and it is nice tasting everything within the set.

The coach brought us to Lake Ashi and we took a scenic boat ride along the lake.

Then we went over to Hakone station (just behind Lake Ashi I believe) to take the cable car to Mt. Komagatake. It's another cold area, but not as cold as fifth station. I even had icecream on the way back hahaha.

This is where the tour ends and we were driven back to the gathering point in the morning.
Shopped around Lumine at Shinjuku and we had our last dinner here - Teppanyaki noodles

Anyways, these are my favourite candies from Japan!!! Basically I bought almost every flavour that I have seen. My favourite would be the grape, peach and honeylemon flavours.

Day 8: Departure

Today is the last day of our trip and we went down to Harajuku again as Jack was looking for his Onitsuka Tiger shoes.

We went back for Ichiran Ramen again as it just tasted so good!

Amount of snacks I have gotten back from the trip! :p

I'll see you again, Japan.
Till then!

8D7N Tokyo Trip (11-18 Oct 2017): Day 4 and 5

Day 4 - Tsukiji/ Imperial Palace/ Yasukuni Shrine/ Ikebukuro

We didn't manage to wake up as early to witness the live chopping and selling of the fish in the market. Nevertheless we made a trip down to see what's in there. The 'must-go-to' restaurants were all already making a beeline and we tried to queue as well but we weren't lucky as the restaurant had even hit max and we weren't even able to join in the queue.

Tried this tamago stick live cooked by the chef. Didn't really like it as I find that it has a fishy taste? Jack thinks that there is no fishy taste to it though.

Walked into a random restaurant at Tsukiji and we had our first and only sushi experience there. Jack is not a huge fan of sushi and I am not too into the raw stuff (except salmon). We ordered the 8 piece customised meal to get just an experience. Actually the Japanese ate their sushi really fast! The two businessmen beside us ordered like a 20piece set later than us but finished it faster than us... maybe it there is too much rawness for me to take in and I had to slowly eat them. But still, I manage to finish it lol.

After lunch, we headed to Imperial Palace. It is where the emperor and those of the imperial family lives at. There was an English speaking tour (for free) and we joined in the fun! Chanced upon the first few autumn leaves on the tree as well. Hahahaa.

Went to Yasakuni Shrine since it is near to Imperial Palace. Basically it is a site to commemorate people/ animals who have died at war.

Where did we eat this? I cannot remember. But I remember taking the subway to another train station to eat our omurice. Thought the egg will spread after cutting it but it didn't.

Our last stop - Ikebukuro for the Pokemon Centre before we head back to Shinjuku. It is a really huge place and there are so many toys, notebooks, towels, handphone covers, candies, figurines and other merchandise.

Back to Shinjuku area... and chanced upon a signboard that says sticks going for a crazy low amount of price so we decided to go there! Actually it's kind of a scam before we were given the cover charge before we have even decided to order anything. So we just ordered abit and went off as afterall the food there isn't cheap.

Back to our humble abode! We picked this Premium Morning Tea which apparently tastes like milk tea flavour and is all over the hype in Singapore back then. Tried it, the tea overpowers the milk and I wouldn't say I will grab this the next time I see this again. However, the Calbee chips do not disappoint!

Day 5 - Shinjuku Gyoen/ Odaiba

Had breakfast at our AirBNB we dabao-ed the night before and headed over to Shinjuku Gyoen.

Most of the time it is just raining... which is so sad the day we went to the garden.

Then we headed to Odaiba via an 'express' train hehe.

Ramen all day everyday~

Back to our apartment after half a day at Odaiba's diver city tokyo plaza, Fuji television main building, the rainbow bridge.

Took away some food from the streets of Shinjuku and finally got down to try the takoyaki balls just a stone's throw away from our aparment. Oh man it tastes so good!!!!!!! It was after that then we realised these were the takoyakis we want to try in Harajuku!!!
